Adventurous Honeymoon Sunset Session | Ho’okipa Beach, Maui

When Taylor and Teo reached out about their honeymoon session, they told me two things: they wanted to capture lively, candid moments and a cinematic, adventurous feel. This is my favorite kind of sessions!

We decided to go to Ho’okipa beach, a beautiful white sand beach with some tide pools which we were going to use for water shots.

As we arrived, the beach was everything we hoped for: gentle, diffused light from the vog, a few colorful windsurfers sailing across the water in the distance, almost no crowds — just us, the ocean, and the wild beauty of the island!

Taylor and Teo booked a 1.5-hour session, giving us the luxury to slow down, explore, and get creative. About halfway through, they changed into their swimsuits — ready to dive (literally!) into the next part of the adventure.

We ran around the beach, splashed the water, climbed on rocks, and laughed the whole time. I gently guided them through the prompts to keep the energy fun and flowing — while making sure to leave plenty of space for spontaneous moments that can’t be staged.

For this session, I brought along a special lens filter that softens the image just slightly, giving the photos a dreamy, cinematic feel. I also edited the photos a little differently than my usual style — embracing a film-like feel that matched the atmosphere perfectly.

As a result, every photo radiates joy — a visual story of love and adventure.
