Soulful Hawaiian Wedding Ceremony | Baldwin Beach, Maui

Uncle Kimokeo Kapahulehua officiating wedding

Some love stories come full circle in the most magical ways. Edward and Brittany, a laid-back couple living on Maui, first met at Baldwin Beach. When it came time to celebrate their love, they knew they didn’t want a traditional wedding. Instead, they chose an intentional Hawaiian ceremony right where it all began!

Edward and Brittany envisioned their day as a ceremony of initiation - a moment of unity, spirit, and connection to the land and ocean. To honor this vision, they invited uncle Kimokeo, a local Hawaiian officiant, to guide them through a soulful experience.

The ceremony began on the shore of Baldwin Beach with Hawaiian chanting, the exchange of lei, and blessings that carried deep cultural meaning. The atmosphere was powerful - I honestly had goosebumps as I photographed it!

Then, uncle led Edward and Brittany into the ocean. Together they performed a ritual with flowers and ti leaves, offering prayers and blessings to the sea. The rhythm of the waves, the sound of chanting, and the couple’s connection created something unforgettable.

As a Maui wedding photographer, moments like these are why I do what I do. Edward and Brittany’s ceremony wasn’t about perfection - it was about love, intention, and honoring their journey. The photos turned out soulful and beautiful, filled with raw emotion and the magic of Maui’s north shore.

For couples like Edward and Brittany, a non-traditional Maui wedding is a way to connect more deeply with each other and the island. Whether you’re local or visiting, places like Baldwin Beach offer the perfect setting for intimate, free-spirited ceremonies that are both simple and profound.
